About NAPsaC

NAPsaC is a regional association of the International Psychoanalytic Association, composed of constituent organizations of the IPA within the IPA North American Geographical Area (as defined in the Constitution and Bylaws of the IPA). The member organizations of NAPsaC include the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA); the Canadian Psychoanalytic Society; the Confederation of Independent Psychoanalytic Societies of the United States (CIPS), which includes the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR), the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies (LAISPS), the Psychoanalytic Center of California (PCC), the Northwestern Psychoanalytic Society (NPS), and the San Francisco Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies (IPS); and, finally, three otherwise unaffiliated societies of the IPA, including the Japan Psychoanalytic Society (JPS), the New York Freudian Society (NYFS), and the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC).

NAPsaC goals include: sustaining and fostering the growth of psychoanalysis within the North American Geographical Region; fostering dialogue and interchange among the various organizations within the region; providing a forum for organizing and promoting scientific conferences, meetings and personal interchange among psychoanalysts within the region; furthering psychoanalytic research by providing a forum for coordination and implementation of research projects; providing an interface between North American psychoanalysis and the IPA, as well as other regional psychoanalytic bodies of the IPA; encouraging and facilitating outreach to allied professional groups, government, and other organizations by providing a common North American psychoanalytic voice; and, providing information about psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic services to the public.

NAPsaC welcomes inquiry from, dialogue with, and interchange among, all interested parties seeking to further the aims of North American psychoanalysis and the IPA.
