Join CIPS

The Confederation of Independent Psychoanalytic Societies (CIPS) is an organization of psychoanalysts and independent psychoanalytic societies of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA). All members and candidates of CIPS constituent societies are automatically members of CIPS. In addition, CIPS hosts a society of Direct Members within its organizational structure.

The Direct Member society, composed of individual analysts from around the United States, functions as an autonomous society within CIPS.

All CIPS constituent societies are component societies of the IPA, except the Direct Members' Society, which is composed of psychoanalysts from component societies of the IPA that are not constituent societies of CIPS. Membership in CIPS is open to all IPA-accredited societies in the United States, and to all members of the IPA who are not otherwise affiliated with CIPS.

ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERSHIP IN CIPS

Psychoanalytic societies currently outside the aegis of the International Psychoanalytic Association are invited to contact CIPS to find out more about the IPA and organizational membership in the IPA.

Independent component societies, provisional societies and study groups of the IPA are invited to contact CIPS to find out more about organizational membership in CIPS.
